Platform 9 3/4....

A photo I've had tucked away for a while was this one from our trip to Orlando.
We all love Harry Potter and never tire or watching the movies, so to see the enormous Hogwarts Express engine was a real treat!

I used the January challenge sketch from this blog by Sue AKA Mini Owner on UKS.

and ended up with this layout....

The brickwork and chevron papers are from an American Crafts 6 x6 pad, Maggie Holmes, and the polka dot was Basic grey.

I cut out some words and images from the actual leaflet we had at the park, which reminded me very much of my childhood "scrapbooks" where I used to save all my tickets / brochures from trips out and about!

Autumn....

That was the theme given to me for a recent article in The Scrapbook Magazine.
I went along the lines of autumnal colours and natural elements and picked some sprigs of leaves from a Rowan tree in my garden to use as a mask.
Now, since I've never used a mask and misting on a layout it was a risk!
Even though the page went all wrinkly I don't think it turned out too bad :)

The rather gorgeous crochet flower was made by my friend Lynda , AND I've got loads of them!

Look out for more on future layouts, along with some I bought from THIS amazing Etsy shop.

Colour challenge card.....

The new card challenge is up and running for January over at Scrapology
This month there is a fabulous colour challenge with inspiration from Design Seeds.

Thistled Blues

This is my card, decorated with a lovely piece of organza ribbon I saved from a present that my sister sent a while ago.
I love to recycle all sorts of bits and bobs on my layouts and cards, and now have a great (growing) collection of lovely things which I tell myself  "will all come in useful" !

Why don't you challenge yourself to create a card with this gorgeous colour palette, and enter it to the blog for a chance to win a super prize ?
All details can be found here, along with some fabulous inspiration from the Design team.

New Year ...New Challenge....

Happy New Year everyone!

What better way to start 2014 than with a new Layout challenge from the Scrapology blog.

As usual there is a Layout and sketch for the starting point and an extra challenge of including a
tin badge/flair button on the layout.

My layout features a photo I love, taken of me with my sister in the Summer of 1971 !

I chose blue and yellow patterns, mostly from October Afternoon paper collections, with grey cardstock and accents.
The gorgeous resin flowers are from an embellishment  kit by Claire Salisbury which she sells on Etsy Here.

Pop over to the Scrapology blog for all the details of how to enter a layout, the Fabulous design team examples and of course the Original layout from Michelle, otherwise known as Momma-paparazzi :)
